Phillip Cobb - Trumpet
Phil is Principal Trumpet of the BBC Symphony Orchestra.
As a youngster, he regularly featured as a soloist on both the cornet and the trumpet throughout the UK and abroad alongside his brother Matthew and their father Stephen. In more recent years he has appeared as a soloist in his own right with appearances at London’s Royal Albert Hall and the International Trumpet Guild conference in Boston, USA, as well as releasing the solo discs Life Abundant with the Cory Band and Organist Ben Horden and Songs From The Heart with the International Staff Band of the Salvation Army.
Phil is a former student at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, having studied with Principal Trumpet of the London Philharmonic Orchestra; Paul Beniston and renowned trumpet soloist Alison Balsom. Upon graduation, Philip was immediately in high demand; trialling for positions in the London Philharmonic and Halle orchestras before accepting the Principal Trumpet position with the London Symphony Orchestra. Phil remained with the LSO until the Summer of 2020 when he took up his position at the BBC.
